Under the direction of the Health Program Manager and the direct clinical supervision provided by the Saskatoon Tribal Council, the Community Social Worker will be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of holistic mental health and therapy services for the community and will provide services and deliver programs in accordance with the Living Well framework. The Community Social Worker will provide assessment, treatment and consultation services for a broad range of emotional, social, behavioral, and mental health problems. He/She will collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents regarding troubled 'at risk' children, adults, and families. The Community Social Worker will work with the service providers from the Wellness Center, Child & Family Services, Nibwakawigamig School, Justice, Elders, Chief and Council, Recreation, as well as services outside the community.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A post secondary degree in the social/health sciences or human services discipline such as a BSW, MSW, M. Ed, Masters in Psychology;
2. Appropriate professional membership to practice in SK or be in the process of attaining professional membership such as the Saskatchewan Psychological Association, the Canadian Clinical Counseling Association, the Saskatchewan Association of Social Work;
3. Experience working with a First Nations community and an understanding of wellness issues.
5. Experience with individual, family and group counseling;
6. Relevant training in special projects area will be considered an asset - ASSIST, Mental Health First Aid, Life Skills Coaching and/or training in facilitation;
5. Knowledge of mental illness, addictions, family violence, residential school impacts and best practice approaches to support and treatment
6. Experience working with First Nation culture and understanding of spirituality is an asset.
