The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation is looking for an energetic and forward thinking Associate Producer to take on a vital support role in our investigative unit. You perform editorial assignments related to the gathering, writing and presentation of program material for our digital and broadcast platforms. You participate in the production, direction and/or post-production of a program, a program segment and/or online segment. You should be comfortable with the demands and needs of television, radio and online news production. You should have some experience in field production, and be comfortable chasing and developing enterprise journalism and original research. Advice, guidance and direction are regularly available from one or more producers, but there is latitude for initiative and judgment.
As part of the Saskatchewan investigative unit, you will support the work of of our lead iTeam reporter. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential to this position. There may be opportunity to coordinate the work of others and close cooperation with the editorial leadership is essential.
You possess the following:
University degree or equivalent
A minimum of two years related experience
Strong writing and editorial abilities
Exceptionally strong research and organizational skills
Familiarity with investigative reporting techniques and the rules that govern these practices
Extensive general knowledge
Strong on-air presence
Strong and enthusiastic team player
Connected to the community
Curious, quick thinking, incisive and critical thinker
Innovative with programming ideas
Experience using social media to research, develop and source stories
Passionate about both stories and issues
Demonstrated attention to accuracy under time constraints required
