Coordinator, Industrial Initiatives, Trades & Industrial

The Coordinator, Industrial Initiatives, is responsible for coordinating and managing training initiatives with First Nation Communities. The incumbent is responsible for the coordination of programs from start to finish, including administration and financial budgeting, and program development and monitoring. This position includes the following broad range of accountabilities:
Identify, initiate, and support the coordination of various training programs for Bands/Tribal Councils
Assist in identifying capital facilities and equipment for programs
Lead the recruitment and selection of students for all programs
Coordinate work experience practicums
Prepare and submit reports to internal and external stakeholders
Create and strengthen linkages between SIIT and First Nations communities
Develop, promote and maintain positive working relationships with Bands, Industry, Tribal Councils, FSIN, funding institutions
Coach, train and develop employees
Assist in building and leading the department through employee selection
Implement and monitor effective student retention strategies

Required Qualifications and Experience: A Journeyperson certification is required, coupled with knowledge and experience regarding the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship system. Experience working with MS Office including Word, Access, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook is required. Experience working in post-secondary education is considered an asset. Knowledge of First Nations cultures and organizations would be an asset. Incumbent must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation as travel is required.
