This position is responsible for providing reception, clerical & administrative support for the Northern Work Prep Centre while maintaining a high degree of accuracy & careful handling of confidential & sensitive information. The NWPC assists individuals who are seeking employment, training & careers in the trades & industrial sector as well as the service industries. The NWPC provides a variety of services for individuals looking for work
& for employers looking for qualified workers.
The Administrative Assistant plays a key support role in ensuring seamless business operations and professional presentation of the Institute, including these following accountabilities:
Greets & interacts with clients/visitors in a timely, professional & pleasant manner as well as determine nature of visitors' business & provide appropriate information
Answering the phone, transferring calls to the appropriate staff member, take messages
Receiving, sorting, sending mail, courier packages, & faxes
Assist employees with administrative support as required
Management of the front office which includes being responsible for opening and closing the office, coordinating meeting and boardroom requests, purchasing & maintaining supplies
Required Qualifications & Experience: Certification in related post-secondary programming combined with relevant administrative & reception experience. An equivalent combination of education & experience may be considered. Knowledge of First Nations cultures and organizations is an asset. Must be prompt, reliable, and exhibit excellent oral & written communication skills. Prior experience working with Microsoft office suite of programs is required. Must hold a valid drivers license & a reliable vehicle.
