Description

The Infrastructure & Operations Department is accepting applications for a Municipal Engineering Technologist. This is a permanent full-time position, under the supervision of the Director of Engineering Services & Operations.  The Municipal Engineering Technologist is responsible for engineering services and project management in the fields of municipal engineering and property development.  This position is involved in the project delivery of new and rehabilitation capital works projects.  The work is performed in a highly technical environment and requires the knowledge and skill for both office and field practices.

This position requires knowledge in many disciplines, such as traffic control, environmental aspects (bank stabilization), asphalt, concrete, deep utilities,shallow utilities, drainage patterns, etc. The position requires researching different products and procedures in order to make the best decision for the City.

Basic Requirements:
Civil Engineering Technology Diploma, or equivalent achievement from a recognized post secondary institution;
Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Drivers License;
Willingness to obtain a Criminal Record Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check as we are a Youth Certified Employer;
Computer Aided Design & drafting skills related to municipal engineering and mapping;
Experience and knowledge of surveying techniques and operation of survey equipment (Total Station and Automatic Level);
Strong problem solving skills;
Strong organizational, scheduling and prioritizing skills;
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to use spreadsheet programs;
Ability to multi-task and work under time sensitive deadlines;
Ability to work outdoors as needed; and
Ability to supervise the work done by the Engineering Student and Rod person;
