Description

The REACT Waste Management District has an opportunity for a motivated and personable individual to join our recycling and waste management team. This individual would work closely with the General Manager to manage the day to day operations of waste and recycling collection for 31 urban and 16 rural municipalities.  Duties would include assisting setting up new landfill and automated curbside collection; ensuring 2 landfills/17 transfer stations are operated within the Ministry of Environments requirements, supervision of the recycling program which includes 32 drop off depots, direct supervision of various departments of staff, including supervision of truck fleet and heavy equipment maintenance and other duties as assigned.  

The ideal candidate would possess a diploma in Environmental or Civil Engineering Technology or related diploma. REACT would be willing to train the right individual who has experience in a supervisory role in solid waste management or related field.  Experience in operation of heavy equipment and a 1A or 3A drivers license would be an asset; but is not required. This individual must be a team player who can manage stress and multi-task while working on various projects in a fast paced environment, possess initiative and a strong work ethic taking pride in their job, and who demonstrates strong communication, supervisory and organizational skills.
