SED Research specializes in developing hardware for the satellite communications industry with a focus on the fabrication and use of advanced composites. The Position:

The successful applicant will work with our engineering team in the development of new composites-based products. The Composites Technician will assist the team in the setup of the production facility, fabrication of precision components, assembly of larger structures, direction of the labour force in the details of vacuum infusion processing, and QA measurement of final components.

The candidate will be a generalist with current/recent hands-on experience with thermoset resins, composite fabrics, composite production (wet layup, infusion, RTM) and composites finishing.

Responsibilities:

Fabricate complex composite parts using vacuum infusion process;
Test assembly and QA measurement on final components;
Interact with design team to improve fabrication processes;
Maintain inventory control on materials and consumables;
Maintain process records; and,
Assist in sourcing and ordering materials.

Qualifications:

This position will be of interest to candidates with:
A technical diploma or equivalent work experience;
Experience with CAD design software;
Inventory management experience;
Competency with use of basic woods/machine shop tools; and,
Willingness to travel.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated a strong work ethic, the ability to take initiative, and have extremely high attention to detail.
