Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance and Corporate Services, the Director of IT is accountable for the implementation and management of IT network infrastructure, application support, and security. The Director of IT plans, implements, and reviews the goals, objectives and strategies for all IT projects. The MLTC IT Department provides services to the various MLTC programs, and the nine (9) member First Nation Band offices, Health Centres and Schools. Success in this environment is dependent on the candidate's ability to think strategically, to manage multiple projects, to supervise staff, to communicate effectively (written and oral) and to confidently make sound policy based decisions.
- Provides leadership and direction to maintain and develop IT infrastructure and support including: network administration, hardware support, backups, software, email systems, connectivity, monitoring, electronic and physical security, environment controls, photocopiers, teleconferencing, and phone systems.
- Manages technical staff responsible for the operational delivery of IT services (hiring, work plans, work standards, supervision, performance management).
- Develops, implements and maintains IT standards and practices, and ensures these evolve to keep pace with IT changes.
- Manages an IT budget, provides recommendations to Program Directors on IT spending within the programs (sources IT equipment purchases, manages licensing).
- Oversees all IT related projects including collaboration via project teams to manage projects from concept to completion (initial project assessment and justification, project planning and budgeting, implementation and final evaluation and follow-up).
- Participates in the development and implementation of new IT and related business processes to ensure continuous improvement.
- Represents MLTC as a member of regional IT Technology groups and maintains a positive relationship with various third parties: INAC, NITHA, SaskTel, suppliers.
