Description

MLTC Education Program is now accepting applications from local members to fill the position of an Early Literacy Interventionist (ELI) - The ELI position is a term position based on the 2016-17 school year calendar, however, the ELI's work will extend beyond school hours to allow for collaboration with parents and teachers to meet student needs. The ELI will receive support and direction from MLTC Education along with the First Nation School Principal. The Early Literacy Interventionist will work directly in the classrooms, in collaboration with Parents, and Teachers to develop children's oral language and learning readiness skills. The ELI will also plan/host literacy events and play a key role in encouraging parent participation through home visits/literacy-focused events.

  Qualifications:
-    Early Childhood Certificate and/or equivalent education/relevant work experience is considered an asset.
-    Familiar with early childhood development and education: Saskatchewan?s Essential Learning Experiences, Kindergarten curriculum, Early Years Evaluation, Early Childhood Development, etc.
-    Requires strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-    Willingness to engage and attend ongoing training provided by MLTC
-    Must be willing to work with technology, demonstrated knowledge in computer software applications.  
-    Excellent communication skills: decision making skills; professional judgment skills: and organizational/time-management skills; must be able to keep thorough notes, records, and documentation.
-    Will be knowledgeable and sensitive to First Nations' culture and beliefs; issues and barriers.
-    Knowledge of local language, family environments, and personal acquaintances with parents/caregivers will be an asset to this aspect of their role.
