The KidsFirst program offers intensive Parenting and Early Childhood support for vulnerable families with children up to 3 years of age. The Home Visitor uses a strength-based family-centered approach to promote healthy parenting practices, positive early childhood development and access to community resources. This position is based out of our Aboriginal Headstart office.
The Home Visitor works under the direction of the Executive Director of Aboriginal Headstart, KidsFirst Home Visiting Supervisors and the Program Manager. The Home Visitor meets families in their homes to strengthen positive parenting practices and parent/child interactions. Extensive training is offered inclusive of but not limited to: Growing Great Kids Curriculum, Attachment Theory, Addictions and Mental Health First Aide.

Aboriginal ancestry and language are desirable. A Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector search is required upon hiring. A reliable working vehicle, valid driver's license and driver's abstract are required. Must be available to work some flexible hours.
This job requires the individual to have the ability to do heavy work including transferring program materials up to 30 lbs., climbing stairs, maneuvering through obstacles during home visits and any other potential physical and environmental challenges related to this role.
