DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Suggest practical parenting ideas in the areas of toilet training, feeding young children, games and activities that aid in the development of children. Help parents to recognize what children want and need.
2. Plan and prepare material for teaching and demonstration of activities that support and attachment to parents.
3. Assist families to develop parenting skills, which will support them in raising healthy babies and young children in an environment of safety, growth and learning.
4. Focus on traditional culture, practical assistance, role modeling and support that assist in linking families with services.
5. Believe in the concept that every parent wants the best of her/his children and support parents through challenging times.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Possess a Grade Twelve (12) or equivalent and one (1) year experience in a related field but not necessary, training will be available.
2. Ability to operate a PC computer, Microsoft Office applications and working knowledge of database management.
3. Possess strong organizational skills and the ability to function as a health team member.
4. Communicate effectively and respectfully with band members, employees and external organizations.
5. Have sound knowledge of how the health policies and regulations are administered.
6. Possess the ability to work in a cross-cultural environment and be sensitive to the health issues of the Kahkewistahaw First Nation community.
7. Must have current driver?s license and a reliable vehicle.
