The RRAC Program Instructor will be responsible for delivering SIIT programs & curricula with the purpose of promoting student success. This position is to organize & implement instructional activities which create a learning environment that guides & provides the greatest opportunity for student success. These include the following broad range of accountabilities:
Deliver courses relating to: construction academics, portable & stationary tools, construction & renovation basics, detailed flooring & basic hands-on skill development in the shop
Complete all course-required materials including attendance records & course evaluations
Use appropriate methods of evaluating & recording student progress within set time frames
Ensure a positive, diverse & inclusive work & learning environment
Adhere to & promote academic regulations, SIIT policies/procedures
Maintain classroom,shop discipline & if necessary, recommend action to applicable supervisor regarding student behavior, including formal student disciplinary action
Make recommendations to modify course objectives, course outlines, curriculum & evaluation procedures

Required Qualifications/Experience: Journeyperson certification in Carpentry is preferred with work experience in the construction industry; prior teaching experience is preferred along with knowledge or experience in flooring. Knowledge of First Nations culture & organizations w/ prior experience teaching First Nations Adults are considered assets.
