Description

If you want a career that helps build better families and fosters healthier homes, we are currently looking for two Family Preservation Therapists to work in our expanding Family Treatment Programs.  As a Family Preservation Therapist you would provide in-home crisis intervention, counselling, and life-skills education for families who have children at imminent risk of placement outside of their home, or to assist families in reunification after having a child in care.

Every family is different so our approach is to look at their culture, their values, and their beliefs. We do some engagement activities, get to know the family, and learn about their values, their goals, and their strengths. We then work with them individually to learn how we can build new skills to help them grow as a family unit. We hope that going into a familys home and teaching them skills will help the family function better and provide a safe environment for the children. The Homebuilders model is individualized to meet the needs of each family and can be applied to a variety of situations.

We invite you to apply for the Family Preservation Therapist position if you have at least two years of in-home family work experience and the following:
- Bachelor of Social Work degree (master preferred)
- Ability to provide a range of clinical, concrete and advocacy services to family members that are consistent with the HOMEBUILDERS model
- Exceptional individual, family, and group counselling skills
- Versed in the field of mental health and interested to work with individuals with differing cognitive abilities
- Strong organizational, verbal, written, consultative, and training skills
- Must be registered with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers or be able to obtain registration with respective professional association
