Please note: this is a temporary, full-time position for up to twelve (12) months; may be extended; may lead to permanent.
Reporting to the Retail Accounting Supervisor, the Senior Accountant - Statements is responsible for:
1. Review and analyze financial statements, follow up on irregularities, prepare required adjusting entries and prepare cash flow statements for assigned retails.
2. Review error reports from online financial statement runs and follow up as necessary.
3. Maintain and update department files, including general ledger index and auto post files, as required.
4. Complete year end working papers and financial statements, review member purchase data, and complete corporate tax returns for assigned retails.
5. Prepare adjustments to year end working papers and year end financial statements for retail allocation to shares and reserves and corporate tax as necessary.
6. Maintain controls relating to corporate tax including logging of refunds claimed and received; payment of final balances and instalment and follow up with CRA as necessary.
7. Submit required jobs to transfer budgets for assigned retails. Assist in following up and correcting discrepancies in retail budgets.
8. Review minutes and related correspondence of Retail Board of Directors meetings and take required action.
9. Complete and file GST returns for assigned retails.
10. Provide accounting support to assigned retails.
11. Other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will possess a University degree in Commerce with an Accounting major or a professional accounting designation.
