Description

The Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre is a community-based organization that assists community members with emergency food supplies and learning opportunities. The Garden Patch is an urban agriculture initiative of the SFBLC. Find out more www.saskatoonfoodbank.org/gardenpatch

Role:
The Urban Ag Program Manager will incorporate urban agriculture initiatives into the framework and practices of the organization's overall operations. The position works to ensure the coordination and application of urban ag projects with staff while ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and responsiveness to community needs. This position requires work within a community development framework, and requires developing relationships within the national and international food security and urban agriculture community(s) in order to bring about opportunities for social change and to improve quality of life in the City of Saskatoon.  

Duties:  
Lead the strategic development of urban ag initiatives
Recruit & supervise seasonal team members
Lead & support event planning, workshops, & development of program resources
Build awareness of urban food production & food security through community outreach
Provide leadership on relevant agriculture & urban ag policies & developments
Develop & monitor program budget  
Research & coordinate funding opportunities, grant writing, proposals, & reporting for Urban Ag

Qualifications:    
Demonstrated knowledge & experience working within an urban ag, farm, or garden setting; knowledge of sustainable food production practices
Relevant university or college education
Experience working with diverse stakeholders & community members
Experience developing & implementing community based programs, preferably in the food security field
Leadership, interpersonal, cross-cultural understanding, communication, representation, analytical, problem solving, multi-tasking & time management skills
