Job Type: Part-Time - 8.5 hrs/week
Location: YWCA Regional Newcomer Centre
Reports To: Regional Newcomer Centre Manager
Qualifications:
? Valid Saskatchewan Teaching or CERTESL Certificate
? Experience teaching English as a second language
? Must pass YWCA Security Clearance
? Must be able to work independently with little supervision
? Basic computer skills a necessity (word, email, internet)
Remuneration: $28/ hour
Objectives: To teach the Stage One English program and serve the immediate language needs of the newcomers and to use existing community resources to enrich the program with familiar and relevant services.
Responsibilities:
? To deliver Stage One English to newcomers with various levels of written and spoken English
? To work with the other Staff at the RNC to ensure a holistic and client centred approach to service delivery
? Maintain active portfolios with learners that are reviewed collaboratively every three months
? Monitor attendance of students for reporting
? Assess students? progress in relation to CLB
? Assist learners in identifying language learning goals
? Provide student with out-of-class language learning activities, as part of regular program planning
? Will facilitate inter-cultural awareness, including understanding and awareness of history and culture of First Nation and Metis peoples of Saskatchewan
? Reporting and other administrative duties
? All other duties as requested
