Description

The Yorkton Tribal Council Child and Family Services (YTCCFS) Inc. is seeking a Family Services Worker based out of the YTCCFS Valley Program Office located in  Melville SK. A Family Service Worker (FSW)provides a wide range of services and is responsible for providing child protection services to all children living on reserve.  The  FSW is also responsible for utilizing an integrated approach in all reports of child abuse,neglect,and abondonment. They may place children in need of protection with alternate caregivers and provide counseling and support services and ensure the placement of children is done in accordance with the best interest of the child.
Qualifications:
Knowledge & commitment to the FSIN Child Welfare and Family Support Act, The Child and Family Services Act of Saskatchewan, INAC Child and Family Services Program Directive 20 - 1, and the INAC Saskatchewan Region Child in Care Policy
Knowledge of Cree, Saulteaux, Nakota and Dakota culture and language as well as the political and social objectives of the member First Nations.
A Bachelor of Indian Social Work or Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor level degree in a  directly related field.  Ability to apply & utilize case management tools & methodologies.
Ability to make decisions using sound judgment in difficult or ambiguous situations
Demonstrated organizational & time management ability in order to maintain accurate & current information & documentation relating to case files.  Ability to investigate, assess, identify risks & develop an action plan to ensure the safety & well-being of children.
Excellent oral & written communication skills
Ability to monitor compliance of the objectives of case plans with clients & families
Must provide a current criminal record check & submit to Abuse Registry screening
Able to work some evenings & weekends.
Preference will be given to Aboriginal applicants.
