Description

The Lac La Ronge Indian Band-Health Services Department is now inviting applications for 1 - Wellness Worker to assist the Prevention & Recovery Team.  The Wellness Worker contributes to the Heath Team through health advocacy, health prevention and health promotion and works under the supervision of the Wellness and Community / Cultural Supervisor.  This Position requires living a healthy lifestyle and being familiar with the Woodland Cree Culture.  The main purpose of this position is to promote health traditional practices and assist the health team in providing health programming within their communities.

Duties:
- Being a liaison between community members and front line workers;
- Provide individual, family and group addictions counselling and Brief Intervention;
- Completing training as a First Responder and carrying out the duties of this role;
- Maintaining CPR, First Aid, and a Firearm Safety license;
- Assisting in debriefing sessions, community recovery and wellness initiatives;
- Organizing a Youth Council to determine needs of youth in the community;
- Attend inter agency meetings and develop a monthly community events calendar;
- Assist Cultural Support Workers in organizing annual community culture gatherings to promote traditional values and roles, and to promote community development;
- Other duties as assigned by Immediate Supervisor or designate;

Qualifications:
- Diploma in Chemical Dependency and/or Social Work;
- 1 year related work experience with treatment and prevention services;
- Excellent verbal, written communication and public relations skills;
- Ability to speak Cree, and knowledge of the Cree Culture is a definite asset;
- Satisfactory Criminal, Child Abuse & Drivers Record Checks;
- Must have a valid drivers  license;
