Description

The duties and responsibilities of an assistant cook are listed below.
1 Assisting the head chef in preparing menus
2 Cleaning and maintenance of the cooking zone
3 Cleaning and maintenance of cooking equipment like pots, pans, refrigerator and ovens
4 Helps in training the kitchen support staff
5 Prepares cooking ingredients for use in the dishes
6 Prepares dressings on salads and desserts
7 Ferry pots and pans wherever needed in the kitchen
8 Be aware of safety regulations and implement them in the kitchen
9 Take over the responsibilities of the head chef in his absence
10 Ability to take and understand orders implicitly
11 Creativity and innovation in suggesting menus and recipes
12 Clear communication skills
13 Have knowledge about nutrition details of different foods
14 Must be a team player and work in harmony with the other workers in the kitchen
15 Must be physically strong to lift heavy pots and pan
16 Ability to peel  and cut vegetables, meat and fruits.
17 Knowledge about south Indian kitchen would be an asset
