Description

The Operations Supervisor role is a hands-on position that requires a strong knowledge of transportation and geographic areas. The primary business is school busing. The supervisor is required to dispatch and oversee operations, safety, and training.

Principal duties and responsibilities include:

Provide leadership and direction to key departments: Operations, Safety, and Training
All dispatch duties, ensuring the safe completion of school bus runs through day-to-day communication between driving staff and operations  
Some travel to branch operations to ensure excellence and high-quality standards
Maintain awareness of current industry trends
Assist the manager with development of operational budgets and forecasts
Investigate and initiate change to improve operations systems and procedures
Recruit, manage, supervise and direct personnel
Supervise and delegate responsibilities of personnel, ensuring all routes are covered in the most equitable and efficient manner.
Assist with driver performance issues by supervising and supporting the training officer
Work closely with the maintenance department to ensure adequate numbers and sizes of units are available to cover all routes
Set-up and input data for driver payroll
Handle public and driver inquiries, demonstrating empathy and professionalism
Establish and maintain relationships
Other duties, as required

Requirements:

3+ years operations and management experience with strength in decision-making
Familiarity with the people transportation industry
Expertise in organizational planning and problem-solving
Knowledge of WCB and Occupational Health & Safety regulations
Knowledge of budgeting and financial statements
Exceptional organizational, analytic problem solving, and diplomacy skills
Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally while exhibiting confidentiality and tact
