Description

The Technician II will perform the following duties:
*Assist in the administration of contracts and projects by:
    - Preparing estimates for construction projects
    - Preparing contracts for tenders, evaluating award of tender and management of contracts
    - Preparing progress payments
    - Directing the work of consultants
    - Preparing various reports for Administration and Council
    - Conducting inspections of contracted construction projects and enforcement of specifications and quality control
    - Responding to verbal and written inquiries related to contracts and projects.
*Assist in the delivery of the Capital and Land development Construction Projects by:
    - Developing an working schedule for the Citys construction projects
    - Co-coordinating with staff and contractors to ensure that the Capital Program and Land development are completed in a timely fashion
    - Providing technical advice to crews
    Collecting construction data for payment  and asset management
    - Operating a GPS survey instrument and conducting preliminary surveys of municipal works

Qualified candidates will have experience and a post-secondary diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, as well as and the ability to use manual and computerised survey equipment accurately with the ability to upload and download digital survey files, including Total Stations and GPS Systems.
*Additionally, preferred candidates will possess:
    - Certification as an Applied Science Technologist or Engineering in Training
    - Ability to lead, organise and direct the activities of employees
    - Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
    - Ability to use standard office computer software including Auto CAD)
    - Demonstrated skills/experience in project management, cost control, problem solving, decision making, supervision of staff, organisation and initiative
    - Valid Class 5 license
