This position is full time and is located out of the Mistawasis/Muskeg Lake First Nation offices, covering both communities. Mistawasis First Nation is situated seventy (70) kilometers west of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Muskeg Lake is situated eighty (80) kilometers west of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. The individual we are seeking possesses an ability to work from both a community development/support framework perspective and a prevention perspective.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Perform effective child protection and family support services including:
-Investigating reports of abuse and neglect;
-Providing counseling, support services and/or referral services;
-Working with families to develop plans to strengthen the families;
-If necessary, placing children in need of protection with alternative caregivers; and
-Developing a plan for each child and providing support to caregivers.
-Work with the community Child and Family Services Committee to implement the principle It takes a community to raise a child.
-Work with other community service providers to integrate and coordinate services and to develop new program responses.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
BISW or BSW, CISW or CSW may be considered with relevant Human Service experience;
Willingness to work a flexible schedule of hours and must be willing to accept a rotation on the unscheduled/standby/call back schedule;
Must possess a valid Saskatchewan drivers license, a reliable vehicle and meet STCs insurance requirements;
Must provide a current, original, Canadian Criminal Record Check (CPIC) and Automated Child Abuse Record (ACI) check at time of interview; and
Must be eligible to register with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers.
