The John Howard Society of Saskatchewan - Saskatoon Branch is looking for several CASUAL Caseworkers for the Youth Residential Program.
Under the supervision of the Director of Social Programs, the Residential Caseworker will provide direct services in the home to vulnerable youth in care of the Ministry of Social within the Youth Centered Model of Care.
Degree in Social Work or equivalent Post Secondary Education.
Some Post Secondary Education or 1-2 years previous work experience in Human Services.
Knowledge:
An understanding and commitment to the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the John Howard Society.
Familiarity with the problems and characteristics of disadvantaged persons.
Familiarity with a variety of counseling techniques.
A working knowledge and experience working in a residential facility for at risk youth an asset.
A valid drivers license and abstract.
First AID(C)
Criminal records check/vulnerable persons check
Ministry Child Welfare Check
Suicide Intervention training (training provided)
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (training provided)
*Must be able to work up to full time hours; shifts are days, evenings, overnights, and weekends. Although not all shifts required are nights, overnights or weekends, caseworkers must be prepared to work these shifts when required.
Skills:
Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.
Good case management skills
Demonstrated ability to maintain positive relationships with youth, businesses, government representatives, etc.
Demonstrated skills in providing supervision to youth.
Ability to maintain a good working relationship with staff and clients.
