Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Controller works in collaboration with Association staff to ensure accurate and efficient processes are established and utilized for all Association services.
The requirements
-Successful completion of a Certified Professional Accounting designation
-Minimum of three years of experience in similar roles
-Experience in an association or not for profit environment considered an asset
-Commitment to quality service and continual improvement
-Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information
The areas of responsibility
-Prepare and format monthly and annual financial reports
-Prepare financial information for the audit & finance committee as well as for the Board of Directors meetings
-Coordinate the annual audit with external auditors and prepare year-end schedules, lead sheets and working papers
-Assist with preparation of budgets in collaboration with the CEO and for special projects
-Prepare bank reconciliations with cheque requisitions
-Manage and coordinate all accounts receivable records and required follow-ups
-Manage and coordinate all accounts payable records and obtain appropriate approvals
-Prepare and file GST quarterly returns
-Coordinate and complete payroll and manage related files
The Association is a nimble team that works in a challenging and fast-paced working environment focused on teamwork, quality service and innovation. This position is considered a temporary position within the team in order to cover a twelve-month maternity leave expected to start in September or October 2016. The position could be shortened or lengthened with notice. We offer a competitive health benefits package and the salary is to be negotiated.
