Key Roles and Responsibilities
Install, configure & maintain servers. Perform necessary upgrades to the servers, including researching and installing patches, security updates, and service packs;
Ensure ongoing systems integrity and security related to network security, network access, email, Internet access and telecommunications (voice and data) services;
Perform and manage system backups and recovery;
Administer and configure routers, switches, access points, phones and firewalls;
Ensure that only the right people have access to certain information and safeguard student and staff data in accordance with policy and procedure;
Forecast future system needs. Assist with the design of network and systems plans, including the work necessary to implement and maintain these systems;
Support, monitor, test, and troubleshoot workstation hardware and software problems pertaining to LAN and WAN;
Recommend and schedule repairs/maintenance;
Maintain inventory for system hardware and software licenses;
Prepare monthly information services and technology performance reports to management as required;
Troubleshoot and manage site WAN connections in the division MPLS network;
Configure and maintain VoIP deployments throughout the system.
Technical Skills/Experience
Significant experience administrating and supporting system wide IT infrastructure systems and services;
Strong IP networking skills;
Significant experience with Cisco routing, switching, voice, and wireless;
Excellent knowledge and skills in Microsoft Windows Server and the Microsoft Business Solutions Suite;
Experience implementing and maintaining Google Apps for Enterprise and/or Education;
Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics NAV/GP is an asset;
Cisco firewall implementation experience;
Network traffic analysis using Cisco devices, and open source tools.
