Description

The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) is the governing body for the engineering and geoscience professions in Saskatchewan. APEGS mission is Achieving a Safe and Prosperous Future through Engineering and Geoscience. This is accomplished in the public interest through self-regulation and professional licensing. APEGS operates through a Council / Board / Committee governance structure supported by a dedicated member volunteer base and by staff.
The Director, Corporate Practice and Compliance will participate on APEGS staff and management teams. The Director will oversee the Consulting and Corporate Practice responsibility of APEGS through the issuing of Permission To Consult and Certificates of Authorization documentation. As a member of the management team, the Director will provide advice and support as required to Council and various Boards and Committees including the Governance Board and the Experience Review Committee and assist with the day to day operations and longer term planning of APEGS administration and operations.
In addition, the incumbent will develop and carry-out compliance programs ensuring that persons offering engineering or geoscience services, or using titles protected in The Act, are qualified (academic and professional experience) and appropriately licensed.
Candidates will have the following qualifications:
be a Professional Engineer or Professional Geoscientist, and be a member of APEGS (or eligible for membership)
Superior communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Above average leadership, analytical, multitasking and organizational skills
The ability to work independently within broadly defined guidelines
The ability to work in an IT environment would be an asset
Familiarity with and knowledge of regulatory procedures and activities would be an asset
Minimum of five years broad-range professional experience with an engineering or geosciences background.
