Job Duties:
Design of underground and overhead electrical distribution infrastructure (25kV & 14.4kV system voltages)
Lighting design and analysis using AGI32 simulation software
Voltage drop calculations, pull calculations, and overhead guy and pole calculations
Electrical and mechanical engineering calculations for underground and overhead systems
Off-site meetings and site checks
Project estimating and material take-offs
Project schedule management and tracking
Design coordination with customers, municipal authorities, other utilities & various project stakeholders
AutoCAD drafting and design
Maintain safe work practices and incorporating safety by design
Other duties as required
Required Qualifications:
Electrical Engineering Diploma or Degree from a recognized college or university or experience as Power Line Technician (PLT)
Experience working in the electric utility or engineering consulting environment, design and estimating of electrical distribution projects
Strong computer, problem-solving and analytical skills
Proficient English language skills
Great interpersonal skills with the ability to develop business relationships conducted in a professional manner
Strong collaborative skills and willingness to liaise with other disciplines (Marketing, Drafting, Construction, and Survey) to ensure projects are accurate, compliant, on-time and on-budget.
Experience with Electric Office, AutoCAD, Small World GIS, MS Office and distribution design software.
Experience with PLS-CADD, CYME, or AGI32 would be considered an asset
Experience in natural gas design would also be considered an asset
Experience with renewable technologies or distribution automation would be considered an asset
Class 5 drivers license
