The Alex Robertson Public Library, in collaboration with La Ronge Arts Council, is seeking a creative and resourceful person who is familiar with the Saskatchewan Arts Community to coordinate a series of art programs for children and adults in multiple locations. The successful candidate will be employed by both the Alex Robertson Public Library and the La Ronge Arts Council, and must be available weekdays in the late afternoon/early evening and on weekends. The successful candidate will be responsible for scheduling and coordinating volunteers, must possess a proven ability with community outreach, record keeping and report writing. Budgeting skills and materials management skills are also a must. The Arts Program Coordinator will also organize the community adjudication process which will allow an opportunity for participants in this program to have their work professionally critiqued, and is responsible for planning, managing, advertising, and promotion of the arts programs to local schools and community groups. The successful candidate will be expected to manage the purchase of art materials for multiple locations and for multiple age groups.
The successful candidate must provide a current Police Record Name check and a Vulnerable Sector check as a condition of employment. This is a temporary position, starting September 6, 2016, running for 35 weeks, and averages 15 hours per week.
Qualifications:
At least 1-year experience working with preschool and school aged children.
Experience in managing activity programs, preferably with adults and children.
Be familiar with art materials and supplies.
Capable of working independently and possess demonstrated organizational and customer service skills
