Headstart Teacher/Instructor

Beginning September 1st, 2016

Reporting to the Headstart Coordinator, the Headstart Teacher is responsible to provide proper, safe, and appropriate training for all students (aged 3 and 4) enrolled in the Headstart program. In addition to the supervision of all children in whose care they have been placed, the Headstart teacher will deliver a scheduled set of activities as defined within the Headstart curriculum.

While working primarily in the classroom, this position will follow all rules outlined in the Saskatchewan Child Care Act, and will schedule such activities so that children will be delivered an appropriate level of activities to keep them informed, occupied, and happy.

These duties include daily lesson plans, roll call, delivery of music, word games, and other activities designed to stimulate growth within the child's mind. The teacher will also ensure that the children are safe at all times, and are not in need of hygienic care. This includes supervision of children who have to go to the bathroom.

Any other duties as assigned by the Headstart Coordinator or Kikinahk Executive Director

Normal hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Qualifications:
- Diploma Early Childhood Development, or related discipline;
-Experience in working with children;
-Ability to build strong positive relationships with parents, children, and staff;
-Ability to deliver a program with Aboriginal content, (crafts, language, customs, etc)
-No Criminal Record
- First Aid certificate
-Medical Certificate showing no communicable diseases
