Description

Star City Minor Sports invites applications for an Arena Manager/Caretaker position at the Star City
Arena.  The Star City Arena provides ice time to residents of northeast Saskatchewan for approximately 8 to 9 months per year.  The arena runs a geothermal ice and heating system.  This position will be employed each year from Sept/Oct to approximately the end of May, and will perform arena management duties as well as building maintenance and caretaker duties.  Job responsibilities include:
- make and maintain ice surface, ensuring ice quality throughout the season
- operate the ice resurfacer equipment providing ice cleaning
and flooding
- assist in ice scheduling and maintain a weekly schedule of
usage
- respond to inquiries from the general public and user groups
- ensure staffing is scheduled and the arena is open for usage as required
- provide general building maintenance and repair duties
- provide and supervise caretaker and custodial services,
ensuring all codes and regulations are met
- order building supplies and materials
- ensure the security of the building at all times
- provide skate sharpening services
- other duties as assigned

Qualifications:  Preference will be given to candidates who have experience/training in ice making, general building repairs and maintenance, knowledge of building and HVAC systems, and and understanding of providing good customer service. Training on ice making and maintenance and Zamboni operation will be provided if required.
