The Moose Jaw Express, Moose Jaws only home-grown local community newspaper, has an immediate opening for an experienced FULL-TIME REPORTER.
Our 22,000 weekly circulation newspaper averages 40 pages a week and focuses on everything local in and around Moose Jaw.
The job requires the successful candidate to not only enjoy small city living but the reward of competently and passionately covering the people, events and issues that matter to our community and readers, as well. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in coordinating the weekly content of the paper including copy editing, submissions, writing clean interesting copy to deadline and snapping tight and bright photos. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating and covering stories/photo ops in a variety of beats that include municipal council, sports, community, features, and police.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will:
be a highly capable interviewer
have the demonstrated ability to write clean, interesting, appropriately structured stories
shoot publishable photos
meet stringent deadlines
work independently, as well as part of a team
have journalism training and newspaper experience
have a reliable vehicle and a valid drivers licence
