Description

Position Duties:

    Responsible for all activities in the water treatment plant,  water distribution system, wastewater distribution system;
    Operation and maintain lagoon site, discharging twice per year;
    Responsible  for oversee repairs to water distribution system and wastewater distribution system;
    Ensure and maintain efficient operating of the water & waste water systems;
    Follow all safety & OH&S standards;
    Check water plant daily & submit water samples to the provincial laboratory as required;
    Ensure backwash and chlorination process is being carried out;
    Maintain clear records and reports of all duties involving the water plant, water distribution system, wastewater distribution system and the lagoon site as required by the Village, Water Security Agency & Saskatchewan Environment;
    Provide the Village office with all samples needed for independent lab testing. (BacT, general chemical, health and toxicity, etc.);
    Be available by cell phone in case of emergency;
    Maintain the required certification and be responsible for all costs associated with said certification;
    Provide the Village with an Annual drinking water compliance report;
    Provide a monthly report for regular council meetings;
    Maintain security of the water treatment facility;
    Insuring the starting of the generator when the power is out.

Necessary Qualifications:

    Minimum Class 1 Water Distribution, Class 2 Water Treatment, Level 1 Waste Water Distribution;
    Possess self-motivation, excellent work ethic, and honesty to work with Council and staff;
    Positive cooperative attitude;
    Strong communicator with excellent public relation skills who takes pride in their work and community;

Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.)
 - Water Distribution Certificate (Levels I, II or III)
 - Water Treatment Certificate (Levels I, II or III)
 - Class V Driver's License
Additional Skills
 - Perform security checks within plant and on grounds
 - Complete and maintain plant logs and reports
Specific Skills
 - Wear and use Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) equipment
 - Transport and mix chemicals, and operate equipment used to unload chemicals
 - Respond to customer complaints on water quality problems
 - Read recording instruments to measure output and consumption levels, bacterial content, chlorine and fluoride levels
 - Perform maintenance and repairs to plant machinery or equipment
 - Patrol plant to check pumps, motors, filters, chlorinators and other plant equipment
 - Operate and monitor computerized control systems and related equipment to regulate the treatment and distribution of water
 - Operate and monitor computerized control systems and related equipment to regulate the flow of sewage and to treat and dispose of sewage and wastes
 - Monitor and inspect plant equipment and systems to detect equipment malfunctioning and to ensure plant systems are operating normally
 - Monitor and read recording instruments to detect equipment malfunctions and ensure plant systems and equipment are operating within prescribed limits
 - Make adjustments to plant equipment and systems
 - Maintain chemical feed stocks
 - Complete and maintain plant logs and reports
 - Collect waste and sewage samples, test and analyze results
 - Collect and test water samples for chemical and bacterial content
 - Analyze test results and instrument readings
