Description

This is a youth employment initiative providing work experience and on-the-job training for First Nations & Inuit Youth.  The goal of the program is to assist youth in pursuing long-term employment in the Housing sector.  

LLRIB Public Works & Housing is accepting applications for the following internship:

HOUSING PROGRAM ASSISTANT

The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:

- Provide program support to Housing Manager, Tenant Relations Officer and Rental Officer
- Work with band members to collect rent payments
- Assist band members with housing applications, renovation forms and taking work orders
- Perform office duties such as typing correspondence, filing, photocopying and data entry
- Responding to general inquiries from band membership regarding the Housing Program
- Other duties as assigned

The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:

- Must have a valid Class 5 driver's license
- Office Education certificate from a recognized institution
- A combination of education and experience will be considered
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Minimum Grade 12
- Must be reliable and a team player
- Familiar with office equipment and operation
- Ability to multi-task, work effectively in a busy office environment
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work well with others and maintain confidentiality

Internship Criteria:        Aboriginal Youth between ages 15 to 30 and currently not receiving Employment Insurance Benefits.

Position:                13 weeks starting as soon as possible

Salary:                In accordance with applicable salary grid.
