Description

The successful applicant will possess superior communication skills and be able to work well with women and diverse groups. Ability to contribute to a safe, non-judgmental service-delivery environment is essential. The successful candidate will be adaptable in approach, well organized and proficient in time-management. The candidate will have a strong aptitude for crisis intervention and advocacy work. Ability to work effectively in demanding and stressful situations is required. Prior understanding of domestic violence and knowledge of the criminal and civil justice systems are advantageous, as are abilities for public speaking and group facilitation.

Skills required for this position include capacity to manage multiple responsibilities, teamwork, excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will have understanding of the dynamics of interpersonal violence and related issues, respect for diverse cultures and situations, and ability to relate to wide range of people in a supportive manner.

Typically, these skills will have been acquired through education and experience within a human services field.
