Facility: PARKRIDGE CENTRE
Job Description:             Reporting to the manager of Seniors' Health and Continuing Care, this position is responsible for the provision of clinical and consultative services at Parkridge Centre and other long term care homes within Saskatoon Health Region.  

The incumbent assists professional and non-professional staff to develop a problem-solving approach to understanding challenging behavioural symptoms and develops recommendations with the team and family to effectively manage the behaviours.  This position will support residents who have responsive behaviours through consultation, provision of recommendations and follow up on strategies implemented from those recommendations.

The position requires the individual to collaborate with all members of the Behaviour Support Team, Seniors' Mental Health Team, Community Mental Health nurses and Psychiatry. The Behavioural Consultant will: 1) complete clinical assessments; 2) make recommendations based on their clinical assessment and 3) works with care team members, Directors of Care/Managers to implement, assess and evaluate the recommendations.  Formal education, clinical in-services, support and ongoing follow up will be required.

All projects in the Seniors' Health and Continuing Care department are developed within a resident directed framework.  This means that the resident experience is paramount in any decision making.  Consultation with residents and families receiving care is a requirement.  Outcomes of all programs, initiatives and assessments are targeted at increasing the quality of life and care and safety for residents who live in LTC.



Required Qualifications

Valid Class 5 drivers license
M.A. or M.Ed. Degree in Clinical Psychology
Eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan College of
