Qualifications:         
Experience in human services, supported housing, or with persons with disabilities/addictions
Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture
Driver's license
Vehicle
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Computer skills
Acceptable Police/vulnerable sector check
Ability to work independently
Good time management skills

Objectives:    
Housing Specialist are members of the Homeward Bound team and work together to provide housing supports for clients in a flexible, compassionate, and responsible manner.
Housing Specialists work flexible hours and must be available for "non-social" hours. (Week-ends, stat holidays and evenings).  The Aboriginal Housing Specialist has a special focus on providing culturally sensitive programming to clients of aboriginal descent.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- A primary caseload of ten clients and shares responsibility with team for all other clients in  Homeward Bound;
- Provide culturally sensitive outreach, case management, counselling and other needed services to clients;
- Provide individually tailored services to each client, e.g., housing placement, independent living skills, appointment escorts, home visits, family counselling;
- Maintain written and computerized records, compile reports and complete other program documents (including case notes, statistics, letters, etc.);
- Assist clients to manage their money;
- Coordinate referrals to community service;
- Conduct house inspections;
- Daily home visits;
- Assist each client access household needs (furniture, appliances, etc.);
- Assist client with connecting utility services (gas, power, water);
- Follow up with clients regarding any house repairs or damage;
- Be available for an "on call" schedule;
- Facilitate cultural and social events;
- Provide transportation to client appointments;
