The job involves performing walking safety inspections of natural gas distribution systems using specialized instrumentation and GPS coordinates to monitor system integrity and report findings to clients.
Before commencing fieldwork, applicants will successfully complete an in-house training program with classroom and in-field instruction.
Surveyors will be supervised by a crew leader and/or Field Supervisor and will report daily progress reports and findings to Field Supervisors for immediate addressing of issues or concerns.
An internal audit program ensures performance standards with additional training provided where necessary.
Job responsibilities included but are not limited to walking along natural gas pipelines entering customers yards to inspect up to the gas meter along with walking in rural areas through at times very rough terrain including creeks, streams, forest and various field types.
The Job requires 2 weeks travelling. During times of travel employees will be expected to share hotel rooms in pairs of two per room all accommodations and a meal allowance is provided when working away.
Hetek provides a truck for each team of three during the time of employment and a great pay structure that allows each individual to earn as much as they are physical able to.
This pay rate is based on a dollar amount per Km walked and has proved in the past to accommodate students very well as the time available to earn money as we all know is limited to a few months of the year.
Successful applicant should enjoy travel, working outdoors in many weather conditions, be an independent worker as well as team player, fit and able to walk up to 30 km/day.
Other important factors include: neat appearance, writing (documentation) skills, familiarity with computers and software programs, good communication skills, mature attitude.
Must be available from Month of September.
