The University of Regina Conservatory of Performing Arts is seeking 2 instructors for a year long musical theatre class, Senior Glee, held from September 2016-May 2017 on Thursday nights.
The instructors will work as a team to produce a musical with a group of up to 20 children (ages 8-12). The instructor's job is to work with students throughout the year teaching them basic theatre and singing technique and coaching choreography. Duties also include choosing a musical for the winter term (fall term has been chosen), directing the play, choosing costumes, and helping the children make/find props.
Education
2+ years in post-secondary studies in the following degree areas: Bachelor/Master of Education/Arts/Fine Arts in music, dance, or theatre.
Requirements
-background in musical theatre or music, drama, and/or dance
-work well with children
-excellent organization and communication skills
-enthusiastic and creative
-demonstrate strong leadership skills
Assets (successful candidates will have 1 or more of the assets below)
-piano playing ability (Grade 6 or higher)
-experience directing theatre productions for youth or adults
-stage experience as a performer in music, dance, or theatre
-taken dance/theatre/music private lessons or classes as part of degree studies
All instructors at the Conservatory of Performing Arts are required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check at their own expense before employment. Interviews will be conducted throughout the intake period.
