Northlands College, a government funded Regional College serving northern Saskatchewan is seeking a Student Advisor in La Ronge, Saskatchewan for full time-term for the period of September 19, 2016 to June 30, 2017

The Student Advisor is an in-scope position reporting to the Counselor and is primarily responsible for providing personal counseling services to current and prospective students throughout his/her College Region.  They may be required to provide educational and career counseling services from time to time as directed by the counselor.

The student Advisor must be prepared to schedule hours of work according to the demands of the position including evenings and weekends when necessary (ie. field hours); must possess a valid driver?s license and be willing to travel to remote communities, including overnight stays, air travel, and travel on gravel roads in all weather conditions; ability to maintain strict client trust and confidentiality required by counseling ethics and exercise sound judgement while dealing with clients in an empathetic way; strong conflict resolution skills; excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills; awareness of resources within the area in order to provide accurate and timely information to clients;  proven ability to work both independently and in a team environment; and basic computer skills using word processing, spreadsheets, email, and career counseling software.

The minimum qualifications are a relevant two year post secondary diploma and two (2) years of related experience.

Proof of Education and a Criminal Record check will be required prior to hire.
