Reporting to the Safety Manager, this position will be supporting the Estevan Mine team and will be responsible for the development, implementation coaching and continuous improvement of the Health, Safety and Training System. This position will work a twelve hour day shift and will have a cross shift to provide seven day a week coverage at the Mine Site
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include a wide range of activities including, but not limited to:
-Development and support of the Health & Safety Training system
-Implementation training support of the Health & Safety Training system
-Coordinates and conducts safety training
-Manages employee safety documentation
-Conducts daily/weekly/monthly safety audits
-Supports and communicates post-accident investigations and reporting along with follow up
-Manages remedial action sheet of safety improvements
-Input safety data into Medgate Safety system
-Tracks injuries/medical aids/near misses
-Health and Safety coach and mentor supporting consistent, achievable, deliverable Health & Safety performance
-Assuming other duties and/or responsibilities, as required, in response to changing circumstances of the mine or the Company.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will:
-Possess a safety related certificate or diploma combined with at least two years of experience. Mining industry related experience is preferred.
-Mine Rescue certification or training preferred.
-Possess or be working towards the Canadian Registered Safety Professional Designation (CRSP). Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
-Have effective interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
-Intermediate experience with Microsoft suite of programs, excel, power point, word, and Outlook.
