Porcupine Opportunities Program (POP), a non-profit organization that supports adults with intellectual and physical disabilities, is seeking a full time Maintenance Supervisor for a two year term assignment. The Maintenance Supervisor will perform repair, maintenance, and improvements, on POP's facilities and associated grounds. Facilities include the main office and workshop in Porcupine Plain, three group homes and associated supported living apartments; one home, a four-plex apartment, a laundry facility and associated offices, and two SARCAN depots, one in Porcupine Plain and the second in Hudson Bay.
The Maintenance Supervisor will work with management to proactively identify, cost, and prioritize repair and maintenance projects and/or improvements and will be responsible for performing the bulk of the work required in conjunction with professional contractors where applicable. The position will also provide supervision and assistance, as needed, within POP's vocational program as directed by POP's Operations Manager. This may involve working with program participants on various tasks related to the maintenance role and/or other components of the POP program.
The successful candidate will have maintenance experience, including a solid working knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and equipment operation. They will have a demonstrated ability to identify and troubleshoot repair and maintenance problems as well as skills and experience in managing and supporting others. Other key qualifications include strong communication skills, an ability to manage multiple tasks, basic computer knowledge, and a working knowledge of safe work practices. An affinity for working with others and experience working with people with disabilities are significant assets. A clean driving licence, a criminal record check, and a willingness to respond to emergencies are required.
