JOB DESCRIPTION  RECREATION DEPARTMENT


Position Title:     Full Time Rink Attendant I
                         (32 Hours a week)

Reports To:              Recreation Director

Position Summary: Responsible for custodial/general maintenance duties of the arena    


1.    Perform custodial duties and minor building maintenance for the arena, hall and curling rink as per the direction of the Recreation Director and senior rink personnel.

2.    Move hockey nets during senior hockey games and assist with arena supervision during those games.

3.    Operate small power tools under the supervision and training of senior arena personnel.

4.    Answer questions from the public regarding the community centre.  Ensure that orderly behavior is maintained amongst patrons.  Enforce building rules as set out in town policies and by the recreation department.

5.    Monitor the ice plant compressor room, record required readings and periodically check for any problems.

6.    Complete cash out sheets and collect daily admission and season passes as per policy (*Note: this duty may not be required if shinny and public skating is sponsored).

7.    Complete the required ice billing sheets.

8.    Ensure an accurate answering machine message has been prepared at the days end.  Ensure white board displaying the weekly schedule is up to date.

9.    Complete damage checks of the facility daily and report any deficiencies to the Recreation Director.

10.    Ensure snow is promptly removed from all main entrances and exits of the building.  Ensure snow is promptly removed from curling rink entrance roof.

11.    Ensure all doors are secure and the building alarm is armed before leaving for the night.

12.    Operate Zamboni to scrape and flood ice as trained and instructed by senior rink personnel.
