1 - Full Time TERM (October 2016 - March 31, 2017) Tobacco Cessation Educator with a strong possibility of extension,
The ideal candidate is responsible for providing leadership, coordination and implementation of all the components of the Tobacco Control Strategy (TCS) Pilot Project.
Duties:
- Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team
- First Nation community and cultural knowledge, in particular related to traditional tobacco use
- Community engagement/Community capacity building
- Ability to work with all ages, with a focus on youth, elders and community leadership
- Problem solving abilities
- Knowledge of the differences between commercial and traditional tobacco.
- Communication skills - written, oral and computer skills
- Experience in facilitating groups, public speaking, presentations; and writing reports.
Qualifications:
- Health Promotion Certification; and/or Health Care Administration; and /or Business Administration; and/or Social Work; with 5 year's work experience preferable in Health Promotion, Social Determinants of Health, Policy Development, and Community Engagement.
- Non-smoker preferred.
- Experience working with First Nations communities including leadership.
- Ability to speak/understand Cree and/or knowledge of Cree Culture is an asset;
- Excellent verbal, written communication and public relations skills;
- Satisfactory Criminal, Child Abuse & Drivers Record Checks;
- Must have a valid driver's license;
