Description

The Saskatoon Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) is a community-based, comprehensive housing organization that provides leadership, project development assistance, and resources towards preventing, reducing and ending homelessness in Saskatoon.  We fulfill our mandate by leading initiatives and programs, engaging community stakeholders and partners, conducting research, project planning, creating awareness and funding housing and support projects. As the designated Community Entity for the Federal Government of Canada's Homelessness Partnering Strategy, the organization is responsible for planning with the community and administering public funding for supported housing and homelessness accordingly.

The Director, Homelessness Action Plan (DHAP) is responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation and leadership of comprehensive communications, marketing, public /government relations, events and outcome reporting for the Saskatoon Homelessness Action Plan.   The primary focus of the position is to raise the profile of homelessness and promote collaborative strategies to end it.  This is achieved through effective media and stakeholder relations, managing social media, and ensuring consistent messaging about the Homelessness Action Plan, its purpose and community progress.  The DHAP also manages a broad spectrum of committees, events, community activities, and communication/public relations activities.

This position reports to the Executive Director, and is a member of the senior leadership team. As a senior manager, the DHAP works closely with all department leaders and staff in provision of communications support for their operational functions and the achievement of our annual work plans.  The position also interacts with external stakeholders such as media, partners, sponsors, government representatives, agencies, committees, contractors, and industry professionals support the success of the Plan.
