Special Education Teacher
The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Lac La Ronge Indian Band requires an energetic, motivated Special Education Teacher who, under the direction of Principal, is responsible for planning, implementing and supervising activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the student(s) in the Special Education program in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
Job Duties
- Administer daily activity plans.
- Provide programs and activities that are developmentally appropriate, incorporating numeracy and literacy concepts.
- Evaluate developmental progress.
- Prepare curriculum objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines and requirements.
- Develop realistic learning goals that challenge the student.
- Create progress reports and communicate this information with the student's guardian.
- Discuss progress or problems of the student(s) with staff members in order to determine plans for improvement.
- Establish routines for the student(s), providing them with positive guidance and building their esteem.
- Develop and maintain current, accurate and confidential student files.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education with a concentration in special education.
- Professional Saskatchewan Teacher`s certification.
- (3) years of experience in special education.
- Ability to pass a criminal background, vulnerable check and child abuse record check.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High levels of patience and energy.
- A broad knowledge of child development and teaching methods.
- Ability and willingness to perform required physical tasks.
- High level of attention to confidentiality.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft software, including Word, Excel, etc.
