Description

Responsible for the children in all aspects related to the development of their learning skills, hygiene, health, welfare and safety. The Alternate Worker will plan and apply a well-balanced program of activities for the age group assigned to him/her in compliance with the Touchwood Agency Tribal Council Childcare Regulations.

Qualifications:
- Early Childhood Education Level 1 and/or Certificate in Early Childhood Education an asset but not required
- Experience working with children
- Immunizations are up to date
- Medical examination - done on a yearly basis
- Police enhancement check (CPIC) - done on a yearly basis or when required
- Safe food handling certificate
- WHMIS certificate
- First Aid/CPR certificate
- Bi-yearly Child Abuse Record Check as needed

Responsibilities:
- Assists with the preparation of activity programs based on the Centre's philosophy, policy and regulations
- strives to create a happy atmosphere of caring, growth, learning, stimulation, creativity and respect
- communicates clear and appropriate messages in regard to expectations, needs and concerns
- prepares and serves healthy snacks and lunches to the children
- assists the children with personal hygiene, health, social, and interpersonal needs
- maintains a safe, healthy and clean physical environment in the Center by ensuring the well-being of the children at all times through appropriate programming and supervision
- completes record keeping activites in a timely manner as required by policies and procedures of the Center
- maintains consistent supervision of children
- plans, organizes and leads daily activities and special events appropriate to the age categories of the children enrolled in the program
- participates in activities with the children
- encourages communication with the parents concerning their children
- participates in training sessions and attends staff meetings when required
- performs all other related duties
