Agricultural Drainage Qualified Person
The Lower QuAppelle Watershed Stewards Inc. (LQWS) is seeking the services a Qualified Person for a term position for approximate 5 months with an immediate start date.
The support of this position is key to the success of assisting landowners by preparing drainage applications and implementing any required mitigation practices.  Drainage approvals ensure security of drainage works for landowners while ensuring that practices are in place to manage flooding, water quality and habitat impacts.
The ideal candidate would have completed post-secondary education in the agricultural field.  Must be a leader that is dedicated, positive with superior organization skills and can work with minimal supervision.  Excellent knowledge in geography, agriculture or the environment fields and basic hydrology skills.
Knowledge of Water Security Agencys 25 year plan, Agriculture and Aquifers with knowledge of the local watershed, Lower QuAppelle Watershed Stewards.
Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Drivers license and a reliable vehicle.
Duties include:
Work with affected landowners to prepare a network Application for a network of drainage works.
Ensuring that all applicable land descriptions and registered owners are included and are accurate, obtain proper signatures and specify whether standard designs will apply or whether consultants will be hired to complete design mitigation with respect to flow control and storage.
Assisting landowners with the applications to the Ministry of Agriculture Farm Stewardship Program for funding for flow and erosion control structures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong ability to communicate effectively with the producer by assisting with application forms and providing technical support.
Attention to detail.
Working knowledge of Provincial legislation and excellent knowledge on how drainage works.
