The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the below:
Procurement in commodity based industry
Establish and implement purchasing strategies, policies, and procedures
Negotiate pricing, contracts, and payment terms with farmers, processor, elevators, and key pulses supplier
Responsible for sourcing WGP/WYP/Lentils/Chick peas
Dealing with process of the Canadian Grain Commission
Experience/Qualifications
5 to 10 years of experience in leading the purchasing function in a complex, preferably agricultural supply, process environment, and experience in agricultural commodities
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering required;
Business financial management acumen (ability to understand the cost drivers for each product/process)
Knowledge in the Agriculture/Pulses is a must
Must have experience in logistic, moving pulses from farmer to elevator, cleaning plant to Port.,Logistic process, cost analysis, profit, margin calculation, Contract negotiations
Experience and ability to develop key pulses, suppliers, farmers, processors, and elevators is a must
Must know quality control process, dealing with SGS and inspection company
Willing to travel every week 2-3 days per week, visiting farmers, obtaining sharp quote, dealing with trading staff, and logistics
