Simpson Seeds Inc. is excited to be expanding its Swift Current operation. As we gear up for full operation in early 2017, we are currently looking for General Labourers to assist during this transition phase. These roles will eventually transition into Shippers/Grain Handlers once the plant is operational. These positions are full-time.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to be a part of seeing a facility of this kind move from start up to fully operational.
Some of the duties that would comprise the General Labourer role will involve:
Bolting buckets on elevator belts
Assisting with the assembly of drags and elevators
Work on lining segments
Painting touch-ups
Moving pieces and parts to keep areas clean and organized
As a member of our Shipping Team, you would primarily be responsible for bagging grain, preparing bags for shipping and loading railcars. When not actively shipping, you will assist with and other general duties. As stated, regular job tasks are physically demanding and repetitive.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Grade 12
An ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
Reliable transportation is required
An ability to work shiftwork (days, evenings, overnights - the plant currently operates 5/24, Monday to Friday but may operate weekends during peak production)
Positive work ethic and a demonstrated reliability and attendance record
An ability to work in a dusty and noisy work environment
Effective communication skills
Ability to work as a team and to work independently if required
Attention to detail with very basic math skills
As we are willing to train a qualified candidate, no experience in the field is required.
