Description

Primary Purpose: To provide comprehensive executive support to the Associate Dean of Aboriginal Affairs, College of Arts and Science, with emphasis on ensuring the smooth functioning of the Associate Deans portfolio, including strategic Indigenous initiatives, Indigenous programs and operational issues of the Trish Monture Centre for Student Success.  The standard for quality of work and timely completion of projects is high.  The work also requires a proactive and team-based approach in a complex academic environment, and the ability to communicate effectively, by a variety of methods, with administrators, faculty, staff, and students. Considerable discretion is required as the position is privy to and works with sensitive and highly confidential information and issues.

Nature of Work: Reporting to and working closely with the Associate Dean of Aboriginal Affairs, the Executive Assistant (EA) provides high quality, efficient executive support on all aspects of the Associate Deans portfolio.  Specifically, the EA plays a proactive role in developing strategies, initiatives and programs to facilitate Indigenous student success and College-based Indigenous initiatives.

The Executive Assistant manages the Associate Deans calendar and e-mail, with attention to competing priorities and deadlines.  The EA also ensures that the Associate Dean has access to necessary, accurate and timely information, carries out relevant research, and provides informed recommendations.
